2981cc, making 310bhp @ 7,400 rpm, burning high-octane gasoline, the 300 SLR won the 1955 Mille Miglia and became the most beautiful racing car of all times.
Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2
The 2.1 liter turbocharged monster punching 470HP, S1 E2 by Audi dominated the rally tracks in the 80’s. The five cylinder engine pumped close to 600 HP before class B rallies were closed for good. The monster became every racecar enthusiast’s favorite, a racing icon forever.
Porsche 911 Turbo S
A true adrenaline gushing, road crushing monster, Porsche 911 Turbo click 0-60 mph in a matter of 2.8 seconds! The 3.8 liter, 400 HP engine under the hood does the trick.
The times were when Ferrari ruled the endurance racing circuit, and Ford’s attempt to purchase Ferrari failed. The anger was channelized well, and Ford decided to overturn Ferrari’s endurance racing throne.
The result: Ford GT40, a 4.9 liter engine for Mark I was replaced by a bigger, 7.0 liter V8 engine. Needless to say, LeMans became Ford GT40’s home turf for the coming years, and Ferrari learnt a lesson.
