Thomas Salzano, a New Jersey based hairstylist, traveler, photographer, and blogger shares some tips on how to work smarter and not harder. And there’s a reason he wants to talk about it.
In today’s world, professionals are expected to do more in less time with fewer resources, and the final result is expected to be top quality. Being left with little time to work hard, we need to smarten up when it comes to getting more juice out of each minute.
Here’s what he has to say:
Focus on one task at a time
According to a study, it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds to get back to a task after an interruption. We are not programmed to multitask, and every time we think we are multitasking, we are simply switching tasks. Prioritize your tasks, start with one and focus on it.
Manage time better
Learn how effective you can use your time to do the things that really matter. From goal setting to prioritization, time management skills play a crucial role in determining your productivity level.
Create a routine and stick to it
A certified career coach and speaker once said, “We are creatures of habit, and so are our brains. When we establish routines, we can carry out tasks faster since we don't have to 'think' about the task - or prepare for it - as much, and can work on autopilot.”
So, create a routine and make sure you follow it.
Delegate certain tasks
Instead of trying to do everything on your own, learn the art of delegating a task to a suitable doer. This will not only save your time but also make you more productive and get better results from the task at hand.
Thomas Salzano says that it’s not about working for extended periods of time to improve efficiency. Efficiency is about how much you can get done in a given time frame.
